Jurors still undecided in the Weinstein Rape Trial

The Question Jurors asked the Judge is Telling of a Possible Verdict

As the Harvey Weinstein rape case is now in the hands of the Jury, here is where it stands.

Harvey Weinstein leaving court

The Jury has asked the Judge if they are hung on the most severe charge of Predatory Sexual Assault -which could mean life in prison- could they have a unanimous verdict on the lesser charges of Rape and Criminal Sex Act.

What does this mean?
The Jury is essentially saying they are unable to agree if Weinstein should go to jail for the rest of his life but do agree that he should do minimal jail time.

Judge James Burke told the Jurors to continue deliberations and come back with a unanimous decision on all counts. In what may seem like a surprise, the Jury is not sequestered, which means they will return home for the weekend, having access to news and social media.

Me Too and Times Up

However, unlike the Bill Cosby trial where Gloria Allred and scores of women protested outside the Philadelphia courtroom, there is not much fanfair for Weinstein in New York. The Me too and Times Up movements have been relatively quiet and have not done many interviews, which could have possibly influenced Jurors.

It would seem as the stage is being set for Weinstein to receive a light sentence or an outright acquittal. If and when this does occur, expect for the Me Too and Times up movements to get back to the business of setting their sights back on Black men, thus giving cover to White sexual predators such as Weinstein.
